Soaring cost of education in Brisbane

New research shows that the cost of private school education has rocketed by 64% in the past decade across metropolitan cities.

In a study released in January 2017, the ASG Planning for Education Index reveals for a child born in 2017, the cost of a private education in Brisbane is estimated to be $372,037. This includes school fees, transport, uniforms, computers, excursions and sporting trips. The estimated cost of a Catholic or systemic education is $239,672 and for Government education it is $68,613.

Brad Macaulay says “You can expect to pay around $1 million for a private school education for 3 children in Brisbane. With school fees likely to continue rising, but wages remaining relatively flat, it’s essential for parents to financially plan for their child’s future. Here in the Bayside and Redlands areas we are lucky to have excellent schools of all types, and one of most common financial goals is to have enough money to pay for education costs. We partner with our clients, mainly local mums and dads, to help meet these aspirations.”

As part of an initiative to educate Baysiders about taking control of their money, Investment Zone has secured Roger Montgomery, best-selling finance author, investment blogger, investment analyst, strategist, fund manager and Chairman as Guest Speaker at its next seminar on Wednesday 8 March at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.
